Hàng Dầu lies to the East side of Hoan Kiem lake and beside the Soldiers Monuments. During the colonial period, the street majored in selling oil extract that was used for medical and fragrant purpose. Today, Hang Dau is popular among Hanoians for the number of shoes and sandals on display. From the beginning to the end of the street, there are myriad stores selling footwear: one can find anything from Birkenstock to fancy high heels. Expect to haggle it hard!
