Dang Thai Mai Street

Dang Thai Mai Street is about 1 kilometer long

Dang Thai Mai Street is approximately 1 kilometer long, starting at Xuan Dieu Street and extending through the Tay Ho villa area to Phu Tay Ho. Located in the Tay Ho village of the Quang An precinct in Tay Ho district, this street was named in 1995 after Dang Thai Mai, a renowned teacher, historian, and philosopher in Vietnam.

Along Dang Thai Mai Street, visitors can explore several prominent Buddhist sites that attract both devotees and tourists. These include Phu Tay Ho, recognized as a national cultural relic, as well as the Kim Nguu Temple and Pho Linh Pagoda (formerly known as Dia Linh Pagoda), which dates back to the 11th century.

Every day, particularly on the 15th day of the lunar month, this street comes alive with visitors who come to enjoy the views of West Lake, worship at Phu Tay Ho, or relax at the nearby resorts in the Tay Ho villa area.

The extended section of Dang Thai Mai Street, which runs alongside West Lake, is especially popular among Hanoi's youth. Locally known as “Japan Street” due to its charming and romantic ambiance, it attracts many young people, especially in the summer months. This location has become one of Hanoi's most beloved romantic spots where couples often express their love and enjoy intimate dates.

One notable café on this street, known for its spacious and enchanting atmosphere, has become a favorite among Hanoi’s youth. This is Sumvilla Café, located at No. 10 Dang Thai Mai Street, where many come to unwind and socialize.
