As of 2025, traveling by train remains one of the most popular ways for visitors to reach Sapa. However, taking a bus from Hanoi is also a convenient option, with ticket prices starting from VND 400,000 (approximately $17) one way. Sapa is located 385 km from Hanoi, and the bus journey typically takes about 8 to 10 hours, depending on traffic conditions. Buses often depart from My Dinh Bus Station at 8:00 a.m. or 9:00 p.m.
