Dubbed the ‘Halong bay in land’, like other northern areas in Vietnam, Ninh Binh’s weather is comprised of four seasons. It is hot, humid and contains high rainfall from May to October. Especially, in August, the precipitation reaches its highest level and the region is usually vulnerable to typhoons and strong storms in September. Meanwhile, from November to April, the weather is cooler and dry.

When it comes to the best time to travel, Ninh Binh can be visited throughout the year yet guests should still avoid rainy and storm season in August and September. The February to March is the peak season for festival lovers and pilgrims to go sightseeing to Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex and local pagodas right after Tet holiday (Vietnamese Lunar New Year). At this time, there will be a variety of traditional & cultural and ritual activities held there for visitors from all corners of Vietnam and foreigners come to pray best lucks and admire natural views. This time is also suitable for short excursions to Thung Nham, Vang Long, Cuc Phuong National Park to enjoy the peaceful and fresh atmosphere.
