Nha Trang University was founded in 1959 as the Fisheries Faculty of Hanoi University of Agriculture. It officially became Nha Trang University in 2006. The university’s mission is to train undergraduate and postgraduate students in various fields, primarily focused on fisheries, aquaculture, marine science and biotechnology. As a regional scientific center in central Vietnam, it has contributed significantly to technological and scientific development in the fisheries sector and beyond.

As of May 2025, Nha Trang University employs more than 660 academic staff, including 33 professors and associate professors, 182 doctoral degree holders, and 254 with master’s degrees—over 60% of whom received professional training abroad. The faculty are well-equipped to ensure that graduates are strong both in theory and in applied skills. These students play an important role in supporting development goals in Khanh Hoa Province and surrounding areas.
