Tiger Air Flights To Vietnam

Tiger Air is one of the few low-cost airlines currently operating in Vietnam. From Singapore, there are three daily direct flights that arrive in Ho Chi Minh City. The flights depart at 7:35 (SIN time), 13:10 (SIN time) and 15:15 (SIN time). The fare for these flights is very cheap, with the lowest fare about 219.6 SGD (175.7 USD) for the round trip and 158 SGD (126.4 USD) for one way trip.

There is also one direct flight to Hanoi from Singapore, but the time is different for each day during the week. On Monday and Wednesday, the flight departs at 16.50 (SIN time), while on Tuesday and Thursday, it is 9.40 (SIN). Depart time on weekend is more different with 18.15, 10.00 and 8.00 (SIN time) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively. The lowest fare for this flight is 135SGD (108USD) for one way trip and 212 SGD (196.6USD) for the round trip.

Baggage Allowance

Cabin baggage:

On any class of Tiger Air flights, the passengers can only bring in the cabin one small piece of luggage with the weight of less than 7kg and the sum of the three dimensions (length, height and width) below 115cm. If you have any luggage that weighs more than 7kg, it should be included in checked baggage and kept in hold cabin of the plane. In addition to this allowed luggage, passengers can also carry one additional laptop small bag without being charged but they will have to be responsible for any damage that may happen to their properties.

Checked luggage:

If the luggage of the passengers weighs more than 7kg, they must check for this excessive baggage. Checking for luggage can only be done 2 hours before the flight’s departure time, and you are not recommended to put fragile and high value items in your checked luggage. The fee that is charged for checked baggage is distinguished by the time that the luggage is checked. Generally, if you check you additional luggage before coming to the airport, the fee rate is much cheaper, with 15 USD for 15kg excess, 17 USD for 20kg, 35USD for 25kg and 70USD for 30kg. If you register for the excessive luggage at the airport counter, the fee is higher with 30USD for 15kg excess and 20USD for each kg of excessive luggage above 15kg.

Onboard Service

As Tiger Air is a low-cost airline, the onboard service of its planes is not as diverse as other commercial airlines. Tiger Airways now only provides Economy class for all flights, with very limited services. Entertainment on the flights has almost nothing and only an in-flights magazine name Tiger Tales is offered free to the passengers as the main entertainment item. Food and drinks are also offered on the flights, but it is mostly instant snacks and simple food such as noodle, bread and hamburger. However, you have to pay for these foods and beverages because it is the additional service that is not included in the air fare.

Safety Records

Many passengers are often worried about the safety of Tiger Air because of its low-cost nature, even though they have not had any fatal accidents. Tiger Air has a considerable number of customers every year; and all of the airlines fleets are AirBus A320 which have only a small number of seats. The fleets always have to operate intensively and consequently, there is less time to maintain and examine the planes for errors, so the fleets could not keep the standard quality as it is required. Therefore, safety of Tiger Airways remains a big question for travelers before flying with this airline.
