Symphony to hit the streets
In an effort to bring classical music closer to the mass, musicians from Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra are going on a quest to provide 30 free street performances in Hanoi during next two months, in a community music project which has been titled Luala Concert.

The debut is taking place on a pavement in front of the Music Publishing House, 61 Ly Thai To Street, from 3 to 5pm on Saturday, November 12th. The following concerts will continue to be held at the same place periodically at 3-5pm on Saturday, 10-12am and 3-5pm on Sunday and open to just everyone.
Coming to the concert, audiences will have a chance to enjoy a collection of masterpieces including The Emperor Waltz (Johann Strauss), No 137 and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (Mozart), Serenade for Strings (Tchaikovsky) and so on, all of which are performed by 20 string-instrumentalists under the leadership of violinist Xuan Huy.
According to the conductor, performing on the street is completely different from their normal performance on stage in the Opera house, because the orchestra will have to play against the noisy traffic. However, it should be a really interesting experience to learn to “fight” distraction.
Organizers are planning to hold similar events in other big cities across Vietnam.
