The Phu Bai International Airport (ThuaThien Hue Province) is planned to be closed in March next year for runway maintenance, announced The Airport Corporation of Vietnam.
The expected time for this time’s reparation is from six to eight months. Air travellers who want to approach Hue City might have to dock at Da Nang International Airport, which is 90 km away.
The Thu Thien Hue People’s Committee, in association with the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the provincial Department of Transportation are coming up with a plan to help tourists transfer from Da Nang International Airport to Hue City efficiently.
In mid-2011 PhuBai Airport had to close unexpectedly, causing tourism companies a total loss of VND 25 billion to transport passengers between Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue.
The ancient city of Hue is always the top destination with more than 100 relics reflecting the life of Emperors and mandarins under Nguyen Dysnasty (1802-1945). Thank to this, Hue was officially recognized as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993.
