Hanoi welcomed near 2 million international travelers in 2011

Information from Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism in Hanoi reveals that in spite of negative impact of global economy’s recession last year, Hanoi welcomed high record of international travelers, at about 1.9 million of tourists.

In spite of negative impact of global economy’s recession last year, Hanoi welcomed a high record of international travelers, at about 1.9 million of tourists. This number is 11% higher than the previous year, according to Hanoi Departure of Sports, Culture and Tourism. 

 
It is estimated that among these foreign travelers, number of guests who stayed for at least one night reached 1.4 million, equal to 115% over the same period last year. Also, number of tourists from crucial markets such as China, Australia, Japan or Korea continued to rise by 13 – 28%.

This result was the consequence of Hanoi authorities to promote tourism including new tourism products applied to Hanoi in 2011, as well as the opening of new direct flights from different cities all over the world to Vietnam's capital city.
 
Hanoi is one of the most attractive tourism destinations in Vietnam with the total number of more than 10 million visitors each year. The city attracts tourists mostly by its unique cultural and historical tourism attraction, as well as the hospitality of the local people.
