Hanoi Flower Festival 2012

To celebrate the New Year 2012, Hanoi is hosting a four-day grand flower festival around Hoan Kiem Lake (Sword Lake), starting on December 30th, 2011.

To celebrate the New Year 2012, Hanoi is hosting a four-day grand flower festival around Hoan Kiem Lake (Sword Lake), starting on December 30th, 2011. This up coming event is expected to feature traditional culture and prominent heritages of the country through beautiful flower installation.

All special flower-made tapestries, statues are displayed on Dinh Tien Hoang Street. Stages for traditional live music and folk game are arranged at Ba Kieu Temple and along Le Thai To Street.

Flower displaying area is divided into smaller spaces featuring different topics: life and culture of Northern countryside, folklegends andheritage sites. Visitors will catch the sight of “Quan họ” costume, bamboo musical instruments and bronze drum, which are cleverly arranged among flower installation.

Prominent heritages of Vietnam like Hoi An ancient town, space of Tay Nguyen Gong culture are expected to be seen through flower made models. There is also a specific area displaying peach blossom and kumquat which are indispensable decorative trees in Tet holiday in the North of Vietnam that surely brings about festivity of the upcoming traditional Tet holiday. 
 
 
Flower festival attracts a lot of tourists- New Year 2010
 
Firstly organized in the end of 2008, Hanoi Flower Festival, which has been known as “Flower Street Festival”, is an annual event highly expected by the locals and visitors. It has also become an indispensable cultural activity of the city in the New Year occasion and Tet festive season. Four millions people are anticipated to participate in the festival.
