Exhibitions of dragon to feature the Orient

 

19 paintings of dragon by Nghiem Diep Anh are opened to the public from 3rd January and last until 10 January 2012. The special element of these pictures is that beside typical features of Oriental culture, the dragon stories in those paintings are told at another perspective, in which they are much more colorful and familiar to human.

Unlike countries in the West where dragons are fictionally evil animals, dragons in Vietnam’s and Asian culture are ritual animals which are able to bring wealth and fortune to people. That is the reason why the images of this fictional animal appear at numerous ritual places such as pagodas, temples, royal palaces or tombs. In the year of dragon, the images of this animal are even more appreciated by people due to its importance.
