Enjoy Street Book Festival in Ho Chi Minh City on Tet Holiday.

Following the success of the first festival previous Tet Holiday of 2011, the 2nd Street Book Festival is projected to take place in Ho Chi Minh City at the beginning season of this year. The event opens on 20th, lasting until 26th January 2012 at three streets in District 1, including Mac Thi Buoi, Nguyen Hue and Ngo Duc Ke.

 
Main theme of this year festival is “Tradition-Present-Future”, in which a wide range of books at different eras in the history of Vietnam is displayed. They consist of modern books in various genres, as well as rare ancient documents which have been preserved for hundreds of year.
 
 
Book is  the essential source of information to human
 
Each street presents books that are divided into three elements on the theme. Mac Thi Buoi Street is “Tradition” section with historical books and ancient documents. Nguyen Hue Street presents books including e-books under “Present” section, which mostly concentrates on the achievement of Ho Chi Minh City in various aspects. “Future” section is presented at Ngo Duc Ke Street, where entertaining activities for children are taken place as well.
 
The massive development of digital media such as internet and television has recently limited number of book readers in Vietnam and potentially pushed reading culture to a recession.  Events like this book festival are essential to conserve this traditional reading culture, as well as provide people with knowledge in different sections of life.
