Rain can occur in higher altitudes but tends to be brief.

Hanoi Liberation Day

October 10th marks a significant anniversary in Hanoi, commemorating both the year 1010 when King Ly Thai To moved the capital from Hoa Lu (Ninh Binh) to Thang Long, now known as Hanoi, as well as the city’s liberation from French colonial rule. On this day, Hanoi remains vibrant with cultural events and outdoor performances taking place in popular venues such as Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, Ba Dinh Square, and Ly Thai To Square.

Keo Pagoda Festival - Nam Dinh and Thai Binh

The Keo Pagodas, located in the provinces of Nam Dinh and Thai Binh, are among Vietnam’s oldest religious structures with a history spanning over 400 years. Annually, during the full moon of the 9th lunar month (usually in mid-October), the pagodas host a festival to honor Buddha and celebrate the birth of monk Khong Lo, known for healing rare diseases of King Ly Nhan Tong. Kin Lau Khau Mau Festival - Lai Chau

The largest festival for the Cham ethnic group occurs in early October across various locations, including the Po Ina Nagar Temple in Ninh Phuoc and the Po Klaong Garay tower in Phan Rang. During the Kate festival, the Cham people pay tribute to their gods, heroes, and ancestors with ceremonial music from Saranai trumpets and Ginang drums, complemented by traditional dances performed by women in vibrant attire.

Halloween has gained popularity as an imported festivity in Vietnam. In late October, Hanoi transforms as streets are adorned with blooming white daisies. As you stroll through the Old Quarter or West Lake regions, expect to encounter vendors selling these charming flowers, illuminating the city with their elegance and creating a poetic, romantic vibe amidst the golden autumn.
