TNT Theatre to present Oliver Twist in Vietnam this May

Oliver Twist, a significant novel in the literary canon, was successfully staged in Vietnam in May 2025 by the British TNT Theatre. This adaptation is noted for its dynamic blend of physical theatre, live music, tragedy, and comedy, along with elements of audience participation. TNT distinguishes its rendition by reducing the sentimentality typical of other adaptations and presenting the narrative through the perspective of the antagonist, Fagin.
Charles Dickens is celebrated as one of the greatest English writers, known for his creation of memorable fictional characters. The themes and social issues addressed in his works continue to resonate today, with Oliver Twist being the subject of numerous film and theatre adaptations. Vietnamese literary aficionados can appreciate this masterpiece through TNT's innovative production.
A familiar name among Vietnamese theatre enthusiasts, TNT has toured Vietnam multiple times, bringing lively adaptations of beloved classics, including Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and A Christmas Carol. Written and directed by the internationally acclaimed artistic director Paul Stebbings, the production has been described as “a stunning and accessible theatrical performance” by the Japan Times. The company has been recognized as “the most interesting development on the current theatrical scene” by the Guardian (London).
Ticket prices for the production are set at VND 600,000 for adults and VND 300,000 for students, applicable to all seating categories. The play is scheduled to be presented at the Hanoi Opera House (Hanoi), Saigon Opera House (Ho Chi Minh City), and Trung Vuong Theatre (Da Nang).
