International Tea Festival 2011 to be held in Thai Nguyen
Thai Nguyen has been famous in Vietnam for its high quality tea for years.
Thai Nguyen has been renowned in Vietnam for its high-quality tea for many years. Once a primary export in the 1990s, Thai Nguyen tea contributed significantly to Vietnam's economic growth and bolstered its reputation in the global commodity market. As of 2024, Vietnam solidified its position as one of the top five tea-exporting countries worldwide, alongside Kenya, Sri Lanka, China, and India, with exports reaching approximately 200,000 tons in recent years, primarily from Thai Nguyen.
With its beautiful crystal green color, sweet taste, and unique aroma, Thai Nguyen tea continues to score highly in international markets. In November 2021, Thai Nguyen hosted the International Tea Festival for the second time, providing an opportunity for Vietnam to learn about teas from various countries, exchange experiences related to tea cultivation, harvesting, and packaging, while also promoting Vietnamese tea—especially Thai Nguyen tea—to visitors from around the globe.
The next Thai Nguyen Tea Festival will take place from November 11 to 15, 2025, in Thai Nguyen City and the scenic Nui Coc Lake area. Key activities at the festival will include an International Tea Conference, an Exhibition titled "Vietnam – Country and People," a beauty contest featuring contestants from tea-growing regions, and a cultural festival dedicated to tea. In addition to these main attractions, visitors can enjoy numerous other engaging events such as boat racing, Chinese chess tournaments, traditional markets, folk music performances, and martial arts demonstrations.
Participating countries will include ten nations, as well as 30 provinces from Vietnam, alongside 50 traditional villages and 25 enterprises involved in the tea industry. Organizers expect the number of attendees to exceed 400,000, making this a must-visit event for tea enthusiasts.
