3rd International Puppetry Festival is coming with participation of many countries all over the world.
3rd International Puppetry Festival is set to take place in Hanoi from September 2 to September 9, 2025. This year’s festival will showcase a diverse array of performances from art troupes representing countries across the globe, including Russia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, the UK, China, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and the United States, highlighting their unique cultural characteristics.
Organized by the Vietnam Puppetry Association, the festival aims to strengthen cultural and artistic ties between Vietnam and other nations while showcasing the rich heritage of Vietnam's water puppetry to an international audience. In addition to the main festival events, there will also be several side performances at various venues including the Tuoi Tre Theater, Hong Ha Theater, Au Co Theater, and Kinder Park.
Puppetry in Vietnam boasts a rich history of over a thousand years, featuring a variety of styles from different regions. The core themes of these performances primarily revolve around folk tales, vividly brought to life through an expressive performing language. Among the diverse types of puppetry, water puppetry stands out as the most celebrated form, alongside other styles such as shadow puppetry, wind puppetry, kite puppetry, and toy puppetry.
