University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is one of Vietnam’s leading universities of economics and business, with regional influence extending to neighbouring countries like Laos and Cambodia. It ranks among the top 1,000 business schools globally (according to Eduniversal) and is classified as a national key university in Vietnam.

It was founded in 1976 by merging three institutions: the University of Economics (HCMC), the University of Finance–Accounting (HCMC), and the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ho Chi Minh City. In October 2023, UEH was officially restructured under Decision 1146/QĐ‑TTg and transformed into a multidisciplinary university model.

At present, the university has over 30,000 full-time students (about 20,000 undergraduates and 10,000 postgraduates), with an additional 20,000 students registered in non‑formal, part-time, and international cooperative programs. The academic staff comprises 767 full-time lecturers, including approximately 25 professors, 53 associate professors, 255 PhD holders, and 371 master's degree holders.
