It can be said that Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) is the pioneer who brought high-quality, internationally accredited education to Vietnam. The Saigon South campus was opened in 2000 as a branch of RMIT Australia, based in Melbourne. Since then, RMIT Vietnam has developed rapidly, aligning programs closely with RMIT Melbourne, and providing a modern study environment where students can learn effectively at a lower cost than studying abroad.

RMIT Vietnam has infrastructure that many local universities aspire to: modern lecture theatres, large libraries, diverse learning zones, sports facilities, standardised student accommodation, and premium services enhancing both learning and campus life. As of April 2025, there are 12,000 students—including Vietnamese and international students—studying across undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education programs; a strong alumni network of 25,500 complements a reputation of global educational standards.
