MOET History timeline
December 1945, the Ministry of Education was founded.
October 1965, the Ministry of Tertiary and Secondary Education was established, responsible for the management of education of tertiary and secondary levels.
1990, The Ministry of Tertiary and Secondary Education and The Ministry of Education merged into The Ministry of Education and Training.
The Ministry of Education and Training is an agency of the Government, undertaking the state management of education of all levels, ranging from pre-school education to higher education; the state management over public services in fields related to functions and responsibilities of the MOET. Besides, the MOET is the state representative in business within the legal management area of the Ministry. The MOET itself was held responsible for the Education Development Strategic Plan (2001-2010). The Plan for 2001-2010 was divided into two phrases; each was corresponding to a 5 year plan. Although the Plan drawn much social concern, the result does not live up to the expectation. Worse still, education in the period also confronted a lot of acute problems, namely achievement-oriented disease and problematic areas.
