Intellectual Property Law

Vietnam’s Law on Intellectual property, which was adopted by the National Assembly in 2005, amended and supplemented a number of articles in 2009, protects patents, trademarks, copyrights, circuit board designs, industrial designs and trade secrets from infringement.

The law marked a turning point fostering Vietnam’s participation in WTO and the implementation of Vietnam’s WTO commitments. The birth of Vietnam’s Law on competition in 2004 also has helped firms to protect their intellectual property rights.
