About Tranh Stream

Tranh Stream, which stretches for approximately 15 kilometers from the base of Ham Ninh Mountain, meanders through diverse landscapes, creating breathtaking waterfalls. The glistening white cascades among the lush greenery present a truly picturesque scene for visitors. The name "Tranh" (meaning "picture" in Vietnamese) is fitting, as the stunning beauty of the stream and its surroundings leave a lasting impression on all who visit.

Located just a short 15-minute motorbike ride from Duong Dong town, Tranh Stream is an ideal destination for relaxing picnics and camping retreats, especially on weekends. Campers are encouraged to bring their own food to enjoy by the stream, and they’ll find ample opportunities for exploration in the surrounding forest, offering sights of unique flora and fauna, as well as excellent bird watching. Adventurers can choose to hike along the well-trodden paths that wind by the stream, or forge their own route through the scenic landscape. After a rewarding hike filled with the melodies of birds and the vibrant beauty of orchids, visitors can explore the "Hang Doi" (Cave of Bats), a fascinating grotto located 200 meters up the mountain, adorned with striking stalactites. Following this exploration, travelers can cool off in the refreshing waters of the stream before returning to camp for a leisurely lunch.

Other Things To See

Visitors to Tranh Stream will be intrigued by reports of a rare species of fish discovered in the stream. In recent years, a local caught a specimen weighing approximately 10 kilograms. This unusual fish features distinctive spots on its head resembling a monk's shaven crown, with its tail seemingly floating above the water while it swims. While local residents note that sightings of this fish are infrequent, it has become a point of interest for tourists. A foreign traveler once offered $1,000 for the fish, but it has now been preserved by the local tourism management for exhibition purposes. Therefore, visitors to Tranh Stream can enjoy observing this unique fish up close during their stay.
