Vietnam welcomes 3.36 million international travelers for first half 2012

 

Latest figure from Vietnam General Statistic Office (GSO) shows that Vietnam has welcomed about 3.36 million of international travelers in the first half of 2012, 13.9% higher than the same period last year and also a half of target of Vietnam tourism industry for 6.5 international travelers for 2012.
 
Among this number, quantity of tourists travel to Vietnam by aviation is major with 2.8 million, 14.2% higher over the first 6 months of 2011. Travelers coming to Vietnam via sea cruises have attained a massive rise, with 46.7% increase compared to same period last year. Halong Bay, Nha Trang and Da Nang are most frequent ports that were visited by international cruises.
 
China, Korea and Thailand are considered the most important market for tourism industry in Vietnam this year. While China sees 682,000 travelers visiting Vietnam, equivalent to 22.3% of the total, Korea and Thailand has contributed a massive rise with a rising rate of 41.3% and 28.6% respectively.
 
Tourism industry has been negatively impacted in 2012 by global economy recession, particularly public debt crisis in Europe, which caused people to tighten their living expense. However, this is considered an opportunity for Vietnam to attract more international travelers thank to a its dvantages of diverse tourism products, as well as cheap cost.
