VietJet soon to operate new routes

Starting late April, to meet increased demand of the summer season, local budget flier Vietjet Air will operate 2 new routes, which are Ho Chi Minh CityDa Nang and Hanoi Nha Trang. The first route will be functional on April 27th, and the second will follow on May 19th and only remain active until early September.

Together with the new routes, VietJet will also increase its Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City frequency from 6 to 8 flights a day, starting May 1st.

VietJet is the new player in Vietnam and has only opened for business in the last couple months. It competes mainly with Jetstar Pacific in the budget travel market. The company received its license at the end of 2007 but has literally taken its time. Four years later, VietJet finally has taken to the sky and created quite an uproar with its launch campaign.

Vietnam’s domestic air market has not seen much competition and is still largely dominated by state-funded Vietnam Airlines. Newcomers find it hard to get a foothold, and some cease operation not long after launch.
