Very First Vertical Run Up in Ho Chi Minh City

To celebrate the first birthday of Bitexco Financial Tower, the tallest tower in Ho Chi Minh City, the Bitexco Vertical Run Up with participation of more than 500 athletes from all over the world is takinng place on October 30, 2011.

To celebrate the first birthday of Bitexco Financial Tower, the tallest tower in Ho Chi Minh City, the Bitexco Vertical Run Up with participation of more than 500 athletes from all over the world is takinng place on October 30, 2011.

Two thirds of the runners are Vietnamese and the rest come from 24 other countries. The runners are divided into different groups accordingly to their age, varying from under 19, 20-29 to over 50 years old. To conquer the 49-floor tower with the height of 178 metres, the athletes have to run up 1,002 steps.

Besides energetic amateur athletes, participation of international experienced ones such as Thomas Dold from Germany and Melissa Moon from New Zealand, the 2010 winners of the Empire State Building Run- Up, is promised to bring about thrill and excitement to the audiences.

All runner registration fees ($15) will be donated to assist disabled people in Vietnam. 

The first competition of skyscraper vertical running up was organized in the 70s of the 20th century, and this sport has quickly been favored by many people all over the world. Great towers such as Empire State in New York, America or Taipei 101 in Taipei, Taiwan have become ideal venues for this kind of competition. Bitexco Vertical Run Up is the first tower vertical run-up competition organized in Vietnam.
