Twinkling lantern competition to be held in Hoi An
Travelers to Hoi An Town (Quang Nam province) on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2012 can also enjoy the most sparkling and tempting festivals in Hoi An - the 4th Hoi An Lantern Competition.
The festival is scheduled to take place from 22 January 2012 (29 December 2011 on Lunar Calendar) to 6 February 2012 (15 January on Lunar Calendar).
The locations of this event are stretched on a large area of Hoi An Town, from An Hoi Bridge and Kazik Park to porches of all individual’s or boutique’s houses who compete in this competition.
Participating in this competition are numerous traditional families, industrial firms, individuals and tourism companies in Hoi An as well as adjacent areas.
They compete on main topics including making traditional lanterns, mix-lantern of modernity and tradition or lantern decorating places such as restaurants and hotels at two wards named Minh An and Cam Pho. Each lantern masterpiece is required to have an outstanding and creative message with it which is related to Tet 2012 Holiday.
Attending this festival, travelers are expected to be lost in a colorful and twinkling space created by hundreds of lanterns in diversified size, shapes and colors. Hoi An is one of the most attractive tourism destinations to both Vietnamese and international travelers. One of them is lantern culture which is partly influenced from China, Japan and Korea.
