Thua Thien – Hue sets to welcome more tourists

With a series of new cultural activities and tourist products in store, the central province of Thua Thien – Hue has set a target of welcoming between 2 - 2.5 million visitors during the National Tourism Year 2012.

During August, the province will host the national professional theatre festival, while the well-received singing contest Sao Mai Diem Hen (Morning Star - Rendezvous) is still going strong. 

In the meantime, the province is calling for partners to operate more air services to Phu Bai international airport, and sea routes to Chan May port as well. Other priorities include the construction of key sites in major tourist areas, building a trademark for Thuan An Beach and expanding market in the northeastern Asia. 

Thua Thien - Hue has also been making every effort to preserve and promote its rich cultural heritage as a selling tourism product. Phan Tien Dung, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism said among more than 500 local traditional festivals, over 100 have been revived and attracted tourists from all over the world.

Thua Thien – Hue is a province in the North Central Coast of Vietnam, well-known for its position as an imperial capital in the 19th century and an elegant complex of imperial tombs and temples. During the first seven months of this year, the province earned nearly 3 trillion VND (USD 145.5 million) from tourism.
