Tet Flower Festival in HCMC expected to be massive

Firstly organized in 2004, the New Year Flower Festival has been a highly expected annual event and indispensable activity to celebrate Tet holiday in Ho Chi Minh City.

Firstly organized in 2004, the New Year Flower Festival isa highly expected annual event and an indispensable activity to celebrateTet holiday in Ho Chi Minh City. This year’s festival featureing the topic of Sea and Island, and lasting from January 18th to 28th, 2012 (the 25th day of the 12th Lunar Month to the 5th day of the 1st Lunar Month) is revealed to be massive.

Beside grandiose flower installations on Nguyen Hue flower road, nearly 6,000 plants are being displayed at Tao Dan Park, District 1 and QuocTe Square, District 3 during 10 days of the event. Cultural and art activities such as Don Ca Tai Tu (Southern modern folk Opera), human chess, folk games and Vietnamese calligraphy are also hosted in the park to add more festivity to the very first moments of the New Year.

In addition, 56 flower markets stretching over the city are expected to colorize the city with diverse flowers and trees. Flower market in District 8 is arranged along the embankment of Binh Dong and PhuDinh ports as usual. The flower markets last for a week from January 16th to 22nd,2012.
