Kien Giang welcomed 2.3 million travelers in first half of 2012

Figures from Kien Giang Province report that in the first half of 2012, this province has welcomed more than 2.3 million visitors, 9% higher over the same period last year. This consists of statistic of both inbound and outbound travelers.

Among tourism destinations inside the province, Phu Quoc Island continues to be the most attractive one, receiving more than 61,800 international travelers, marking an increase of 23%. Other tractive destinations may be listed as Ha Tien Town or Rach Gia Town.

However, the figures also indicate several problems of tourism industry of the province, in which low occupation rate at hotels and short duration of time spending of travelers are listed.

Kien Giang is one of the most important provinces in Mekong Delta region in term of tourism. The province has many attractions, including Phu Quoc Island, the most popular island in the South of Vietnam.
