Happy Taxi to be banned at Tan Son Nhat Airport

Online newspaper VnExpress reported that Happy Taxi Company has just been forced to cease operating at Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City). This is the third company which was banned from this airport, after Petrolimex Taxi and Festival Taxi.

The suspension was decided after an investigation of ministry inspectors on taxi companies who are operating at the airport on December 16. The inspection re-examine operation of cabs at this airport in term of elements like price, taxi license or management.

Result of the investigation shows that Happy Taxi purchased license for its 270 drivers to run at Tan Son Nhat Airport, but only more than 100 cabs are actually operating. The other licenses were sold to other taxi companies to get quota to operate at this airport. The cabs that acquired licenses from Happy Taxi have also been ceased operating.

The investigators further reveals that the cabs of Happy Taxi did not clearly public the price calculation to passengers, and apply price that is not under allowed range of the company.

At Tan Son Nhat Airport now, there are about 11 taxi companies are operating with hundreds of cabs. However, this overload of taxies has caught many issues for both the airport taxi firms to manage and supervise operation of cabs at this place. It is recommended that you take either Vinasun or Mai Linh taxi while you are in Ho Chi Minh City to avoid taxi scams.
