Da Nang operates electric vehicle for tourism

On March 29, Thinh Hung Trade & TourismCo. Ltd officially launched its fleet of 15 electricity-run vehicles to serve tourists in Da Nang. This is the first time this coastal city sees electric vehicles operated for tourism travel.

The project cost VND 20 billion offers a total of 100 electric vehicles. In 2012, the first 15 vehicles that equal to VND 3.7 billion of the investment are used in the two primary tourist routines in Da Nang, with the first one from Pham Van Dong street, passing Truong Sa to Son Tra peninsula, and the second one from Pham Van Dong street to the Marble Mountains.

The proposed hiring cost is VND 250,000 (US$ 12)/hour, VND 350,000/2 hours, VND 450,000/3 hours. From 5 hours onward, the fee is discounted to VND 80,000 for each passing hour. Each vehicle is scheduled to carry a maximum of 5 people at one time.

Mrs Nguyen Thi Than hNga, Director of Thinh Hung Co. Ltd said that the project was launched to meet the swelling demand for means of transportation around the tourist areas of Da Nang, and also to help cutting down on environmental pollution. “We’re going to expand our service to other attractive tourist streets of Da Nang, including Bach Dang Street and Thuan Phuoc Bridge”, says Mrs. Nga.

Da Nang is Vietnam’s fifth largest city, widely considered as one of the most tourist-friendly destinations. For the past few years, the provincial government has been enthusiastically pursuing environmental urban development and working to make Da Nang a cleaner city. Part of its plan to cut down pollution is to endorse the operation of electricity-run vehicles as official means of transportation.
