Air Australia, the newest budget carrier in Australia is asking for permission to open flights to Vietnam from major cities in Australia, starting in March 2012.
Accordingly, Air Australia plans to operate four flights per week from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane to Vietnam. However, the names of Vietnamese cities that Air Australia will fly to haven’t been revealed yet.
Operating since 2009 under the initial name Strategic Airlines, Air Australia has been granted to operate flights from Australia to China and the US. Besides Vietnam, the Brisbane-based airline intends to serve international tourists with various destinations such as Bali, Phuket and Honolulu.
At the present, two Vietnamese carriers Vietnam Airlines
and Jetstar Pacific
are operating flights between Australia and Vietnam. If Air Australia’s application is approved by the International Air Services Commission, there will be one more choice for tourists from Australia to Vietnam and vice-versa.
