Amazing Tet celebration at Vietnam Museum of Ethnology

From January 26th to 28th, 2012 (4th to 6th day of the first lunar month), Vietnam Museum of Ethnology will be hosting a fair of cultural activities to celebrate Tet holiday. The participation of people from ethnic minorities in Vietnam is the highlight of the event, expected to reflect the diversity of Tet holiday celebration of Vietnam. More than 90 people from ethnic groups such as Raglai, Dao Lô gang, Na Miẻo and Tày are invited to the event to present their very own traditional activities in Tet holiday, and perform folk music for happiness and prosperous harvest.

Common cultural activities and entertainments in the northern villages during Tet holiday such as calligraphy, Đông Hồ painting printing and water-puppet are as well introduced to visitors.

To create a lively festive atmosphere, tourists are encouraged to participate in folk games such as tug-of-war, swinging, wrestling, and make traditional toys such as tò he (toy figurine) and paper mache masks.

Foreign visitors might find excited to taste the Tet flavor of Tày people with mouth-watering local specialties such as roasted piggy, stir-fried buffalo meat, steamed purple sticky rice.
